SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Born in Caltanissetta (CL), on 19 January 1999. Graduated from the Berlinghieri Art School in Pescia (PT) where she studied Figurative Arts and Graphics. From an early age she demonstrated a strong passion for art and theatre. For several years she participated in theatrical performances. In 2019 and 2022 she worked for the production of a film and a short film as a set designer. From 2017 to 2019 she worked as a portraitist, in particular portraits of children, until she moved from Uzzano (PT) to Carrara (MS) to enroll in the Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in Scenography and frequenting artistic circles. She deals with painting, artistic collaboration and holds various exhibitions, in addition she experiments with video editing working for the sculptor Alnassar.
ARTISTS STATEMENT
In 2022 the work "Conflitto" was published in the magazine "Donatello parmi les fauves", a project with the Palazzo Strozzi foundation in Florence.
At the turn of 2022 and 2023 she held the exhibition "A Line of Thought" in Byron Bay (Australia) in collaboration with the artist Nicola Harris in the Art-Alchemy Gallery, in which Nicola's mobile and abstract wire installations take up and communicate with Sonia's drawings and paintings, a perfect artistic harmony and the play of shadows on the sand of the installations make this exhibition unique. In 2023 Sonia graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara.
The heart of her artistic research is the representation of physical and psychological pain in all its forms, languages and diversity which originates from the representation of her own physical and psychological health problems.
